Artist’s Statement

It is said that a painting should have a quiet place for the eye to rest. My work has always been far from that. Pieces are alive with color, pattern, liveliness and energy. The ideas come from outdoors, other artists, Islamic and Indian art, ethnic textiles, botany… everywhere. The work has gone from the precision of embroidery housed in mixed media frames to the freedom of painting. I love making these paintings starting with the drawing and watching the unfolding mystery as the color fills the spaces. Please enjoy looking at them.
